HT's FLY PATTERNS
Green Drake var.
Materials
Hook:
Wide gape, Dry Fly, #12
Silk/Thread:
Brown thread
Body:
Dubbing: Natural wool
Rib:
Fine oval gold or copper tinsel
Hackle:
Olive green cock hackle,
Light red cock hackle
Tail whisks:
5-6 fibres from cock
pheasant tail
Tying Method
Whip thread down shank of hook toward bend, starting at 1/8 distance from eye.
Tie in whisks and tinsel at beginning of bend. Whisks should extend from the hook by at least the length of the hook shank.
Dub forwards towards eye. Stop at 1/4 distance from eye.
Rib with tinsel.
Tie in green cock hackle, make 2 turns.
Tie in red cock hackle in front intermingling with the green, make 3 turns.
Tie off behind eye. Clear varnish.
