Length:
15cm   total,     11.3cm body.
Description:
Artificial Spinning Bait. Made of seal or other animal skin. This developed into the Wagtail bait, where the body and tail of the bait is independent of the terminal treble.
Both the Phantom and the Wagtail were excellent baits for Pike, and accounted for vast numbers of predatory fish in many situations ranging from the Hampshire chalk streams to Irish loughs in the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. The high cost of manufacture eventually caused their demise.
